Pending downtime

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

Yes, it’s been a while. And no, this isn’t a proper update, I’m afraid….
It’s just a quick note to let anyone who’s keeping an eye on the site know that it’ll be going down for a bit. I’ve got to move hosts, and I haven’t even started to look for a new one yet. So […]

Recent down-time

Sunday, February 11th, 2007

Ouch… that was all down for a little longer than I had planned.
We should be back up for the forseeable future now - the recent down-time was a combination of a server move that didn’t quite go as smoothly as planned, combined with christmas and a very busy period at work.
I’ll be back on track […]

Comments and moderation…

Wednesday, October 25th, 2006

After such a long hiatus, I came back to find the front lawn covered in garbage. Fortunately, I’d turned comment moderation on for potential spam, and I had a queue of over 2000 comments. Needles to say, I didn’t go through them all one by one, so if anyone did have a comment that they […]

Back on the road again!

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

Right….. after far too long of a hiatus, I think it’s finally time to get things going on here again.
What has been going on, I hear you cry… (or is that just the voices in my head? It’s hard to tell sometimes!)
I’ve got a number of low-budget shows that I’ve worked on recently that I’ve […]

Updates…. what’s been going on?

Thursday, March 9th, 2006

It’s been far too long, and to those of you who’ve been checking the site on a vaguely regular basis, I apologise (I can’t believe you’re still here!)
A few updates…..
I’ve got a couple of shot breakdowns to post - one more from Enter The Zombie, and one from Darkness, which I mentioned in my last […]

Current status of things…

Wednesday, September 7th, 2005

Well, things have been a little quiet around here for the past month or so…. for a few reasons….

I’ve been on holiday in Australia for a month or so. I managed to completely avoid thinking about work or VFX-related stuff for most of the time, so I certainly wasn’t going to be posting on here….
Draw […]

Green-screen plate?

Tuesday, June 7th, 2005

Does anyone have a green-screen plate that I could use for a tutorial?
I posted a (long and rambling) tutorial on CGTalk about a method I use for cleaning up green-screens. I didn’t post any images in the tutorial (apart from a Shake screen-shot) as the only stuff I’ve got here is stuff that I really […]

HD Formats

Wednesday, April 27th, 2005

I know I’ve already linked to HD For Indies once this month, but I followed a link to another post over there that was incredibly informative, especially as I’ve been thinking about the different HD formats recently….
Thanks to worldofmaya for posting on VFXTalk.com with this link:
HD For Indies: Format Overview: what the various tape formats […]

Bloody interlaced!

Sunday, April 24th, 2005

I discovered something not so good today when shooting this concept footage…. (More details of how that went later…)
The Sony HVR-Z1E, which is what we’re using on Roy’s Odyssey, only allows you to do PAL, NTSC or 1080i…. I was sure (must have dreamt it) that you could do 720p on it, which is what […]

Tracking markers delivered

Saturday, April 23rd, 2005

I got home tonight to find a parcel of tracking markers waiting for me - just in time for their first outing this weekend:

Once we’ve done this shoot this weekend, I should have a lot more for you - hopefully this week’s lull won’t continue for too long.
