Would love to be able to make it down to The Production Show, but things are a little busy at work at the moment, so I can't really afford the time off to go down, but I'll grab the demo on my home machine....

The main thing stopping me seriously considering it, though, is the lack of Linux support....

It will on show next at the Broadcast Production Show at Earls Court, London next week, Siggraph in August and IBC in September. We will certainly be releasing it on other platforms but as yet no dates set. With regard to importers from 3D modelling applications, we do not at present support Maya but again this is coming. Don't forget, it does come with a library of content and a primitive based construction kit - so for pre-viz purposes a surprising amount of content can be generated within Antics. We will also be releasing over the next few months further content on our website.

I haven't seen anything about Antics for a while! I think the only time I've actually seen it running was at 3December a couple of years ago...

I'd not looked at for a while, and, while it looks nice, it's not really practical for us on this - mainly because we're running on Linux here, and use Maya for pretty much everything 3D.

I'll certainly take a look at it for potential future use - are there any plans to release it on any other platforms?

Very interested to see your pre-viz shots. Have you tried Antics Pre-viz - your opening shots could be easily created in Antics Pre-viz and played around with to get the effect you want. www.antics3d.com

I think it's a bug with WordPress when you draft a post without giving it a title... It assigned it a 'name' (42, in this case) which, for some reason, wasn't liked. I just gave it a more usual name ("roys-odyssey-opening-sequence-previz") which worked....

I'll be posting the first break-down in a few hours - I've written a few already, but I don't want to post the first one too soon, as I've just put the latest Shake tip out...

Hm, hope you get it looking as good as the Matrix :D

Looking forward for the breakdowns (yaaay :))

I've moved your post to the correct thread - hope that's okay with you!

Anyway...

These shots will all cut together like this - they are almost all VFX shots (with the exception of RO_101_140). After the end of what we see in the pre-viz, it's all live-action for the rest of the scene.

And yes, The Matrix: Revolutions was a bit of an inspiration for the flying part (now if only we can get it looking as good!)

Some of the shots are going to be difficult (030 and 070 - although we're re-working 030 at the moment, and may well split up 070 into a few smaller shots) - the previz is mainly for us to figure out how we're going to shoot each shot.

Keep an eye out for the shot-by-shot breakdowns over the next couple of weeks...

I'll post a comment to the actual previz post here, since http://www.brokenpipefilms.com/unframedvfx/2005/05/42/ returns a 404 error.

I think that the previz animation is awesome and I reall like the shots that are planned (these are only the fx shots if I understand you correctly, which would in this case mean that there will be some other shots in between there?)

I hope that you'll be able to execute it the way it is previsualised here, cause it would look amazing. The first flying part kinda remids me of The Matrix: Revolutions (Super Brawl) :)

Good luck with bringing it to life :)
