Change of blog software…?

I know this blog has only been around for a month (or less…), but there are some things about blogger.com’s blog system that bug me, and I’ve been thinking about moving over to a different system….

Don’t get me wrong - I think blogger.com is absolutely fantastic - it’s a really easy way for people to get a blog up and running, and gives nice-looking blogs too.

However, I’m a techie by nature, and I like to be able to hack my sites to bits. Blogger.com just doesn’t give me that kind of flexibility…

The two systems that I’ve been looking at are WordPress and Movable Type.

Anyway, is there anyone on here who has experience with either of these? I’d love to hear your take on them….

A bit late, but I’m using Movable Type. There’s a plethora of stuff out there for it, and a great site with tips and hacks is http://www.elise.com/mt/. I’ve set up the MT blog package on two systems at the moment, a personal/family blog and my digitalgypsy blog. It’s straightforward and easy to use, and I coerced a couple coworkers to choose it. ;) But use whatever you feel is appropriate!

To be honest, I don’t think I really gave anyone a chance to respond!

I chucked a question over to John August, as I knew he had used both in the past (although is now on WordPress)

The WP admin interface is fantastic, and really easy to use, and the plugin architecture is very simple to get started with - of the three plugins I’ve got running at the moment, 2 were written by me in about 15 minutes each…..

Well, I fully agree with your comment. :)

BTW: I visited your blog earlier today and I just wanted to congratulate you on a well presented, and informative resource.

It’s not often that I come across a web site that offers a wealth of quality. ;-)
